Natural Solutions for IBS: Healing from the Inside Out

If you've ever tried to fix your toilet habits through the conventional system, you'll know it's not an easy task (I tried for 15 years through the NHS). Here, I'll be sharing what's worked for me, my clients, and customers, as well as the scientific basis for our success. Let's dive into the world of IBS, its causes, and the natural treatments that can bring relief.

What Causes IBS?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a complex condition with various triggers. It's often the result of an interplay between diet, stress, and underlying medical conditions. Two lesser-known culprits behind many IBS cases are SIBO and SIFO.
SIBO and SIFO: The Hidden Triggers
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) and SIFO (Small Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth) are conditions where bacteria and fungi proliferate in the small intestine. These overgrowths can cause symptoms like bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.
Why Are They Overlooked?
Unfortunately, SIBO and SIFO are not widely recognized, even though they affect a large number of IBS sufferers. One reason is that they are often caused by medications like PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors) such as Omeprazole and Lansoprazole, commonly prescribed for GERD and acid reflux. These medications can reduce stomach acid production, creating an environment where bacteria and fungi can thrive.
The Stress ConnectionOur response to stress can exacerbate IBS symptoms. Stress can reduce stomach acid production, slow digestion, and alter gut motility, contributing to SIBO and SIFO. Constipation, a common issue due to modern diets and sedentary lifestyles, can also worsen these conditions.
Natural Treatments for IBS: Addressing the Root Causes
The key to treating IBS naturally is addressing the root causes. Here are some effective strategies:
  1. Dietary Changes:
    • Low FODMAP Diet: Reducing certain carbohydrates that ferment in the gut can alleviate symptoms.
    • Elimination Diets: Identifying and removing food intolerances.
    • Elemental Diets: Removing triggers and giving the small intestine chance to rest and heal
    • High-Fiber Foods: Promoting gut health with fiber-rich fruits and vegetables.
  2. Probiotics and Prebiotics:
    • Supporting the gut microbiome with beneficial bacteria and the fibers they feed on.
  3. Stress Management:
    • Techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, and deep breathing exercises to reduce stress levels.
  4. Supplements:
    • Digestive enzymes, herbal antimicrobials, and specific vitamins and minerals to support gut health.
My Approach and Success Stories. I've developed tailored kits for resolving SIBO, SIFO, and other root causes of IBS symptoms. These kits are designed to be easy to use and include a treatment and maintenance protocol to prevent relapse. Feedback has been incredible, with many clients experiencing significant improvements.
The Perils of PPIs and Other MedicationsMany people are unaware of the long-term risks associated with medications like PPIs. While they may provide temporary relief, they can lead to other health problems such as:
  • Gall Stones
  • Osteoporosis
  • Vitamin Deficiencies
  • Increased Risk of Infections
Our doctors do an amazing job, but their toolkit for resolving indigestion is limited. Often, the medications prescribed for pain relief can be damaging to the stomach and do not address the root cause of the symptoms.
IBS Webinar: Taking Control of Your IBS. I've hosted and recorded a webinar to help answer your questions about IBS and its treatment. I'll discuss the medications that can contribute to IBS, provide guidelines for dietary and lifestyle changes, and suggest supplements that can alleviate symptoms.
Everyone who signs up as a client or customer will receive a free copy of the IBS Webinar Recording and my IBS guide, which offers comprehensive support for resolving IBS naturally.

After an indulgent time at Glastonbury, many of us are feeling the aftermath:
  • Bloating
  • Toilet troubles
  • Tiredness
  • Parched skin
  • Dark circles
  • Puffiness
  • Grumpiness
I decided to start a 21-day holistic detox to purify my system and shift the signs of an unhappy, unhealthy body.
I lost a stone and 4 inches of bloating, visceral fat and water retention from my waistline. I got my energy and glow back and just felt back on form again.
It's not the only experiment this scientist did: I did a week of feasting to go fully into mTor then started a 7 Day Cleanse. For those who prefer a shorter commitment, and want to feel the benefits of resting their gut and body, I tried the 7-day Fresh Start program. Both cleanses are perfect for addressing IBS and promoting overall health - book your free consultation to see which will suit you best.

The Microbiome: Your Health Ally
One of my favorite topics is the microbiome—the diverse community of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses living in and on us. A healthy microbiome is crucial for:
  • Better Sleep
  • Improved Mood
  • Increased Energy
  • Enhanced Immune System
  • Weight Management
  • Satiety
  • Reduction of IBS Symptoms
A diet rich in fiber from fruits and vegetables supports the microbiome, leading to the production of serotonin, which is converted into melatonin, our sleep hormone. So, if you're struggling with sleep, remember that a good diet can make a significant difference.
